Greens outpace struggling Taibach

Taibach 8 Brynaman 46

The Greens welcomed two former players back into the squad on Saturday following the midweek signings of Dean Williams and man of the match Jonny Bevan. Both wasted no time in getting involved and with typical trademark runs set up a try for wing Owain Sullivan to crash over in the corner. The greens went on the attack once again from the kick off with some penetrating breaks orchestrated by the sublime handling of Rhys Williams. Taibach continued to infringe and from a quick tap penalty Lee Evans powered over the line. Again from the kick off good inter passing between Rhys and Dean Williams, Steffan Duggan and Bevan sent full back Luc Rees racing over in the corner.

Half time - Taibach 3 Brynaman 15

Taibach came out in the second half full of vigour and got their only try with a well worked backs move. In response coaches Davies and Jones made their first substitution and sent scrum half Dafydd Jones on as a direct replacement for Lee Evans. The greens quickly responded with their fourth try when Jonny Bevan caught a Joel Spurway pass to race from right to score out wide. The fifth try saw outside half Rhys Williams dance his way under the uprights in a fine solo try.The greens six try was a well-executed catch and drive that saw veteran second rower Gareth H Williams peel off and score. However in the process he pulled his hamstring whilst doing an outrageous swan dive. Taibach then introduced ex green Mark Thomas into the fray, but to combat this coaches Jones and Davies sent on Shane Fairburn. His impact was instant, and from the first dominant scrum on half way, great interplay from the backs sent over full back Luc Rees for his second try. The final try mirrored the previous one. After another solid scrum on the half way the ball was spun out quickly and once again Bevan broke the line to feed full back Rees who was over for his hat-trick. Job done.
